Within the framework of the "Frankfurter Positionen", the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition of Ed Atkins (b. in Oxford, GB in 1982) to take place in Germany.
Atkins is considered a pioneer of a young generation of artists using digital image technology to create an immersive, hyperreal world of imagery. He has invented his own ensemble of virtual protagonists who reflect on existential issues of humanity in text-based, performative video installations. How do automatization, technologization and digitalization impact our individual life realities, consciousness and self-conceptions?
In his exhibition at the MMK, the artist will show several new works, which he will stage in site-specific manner in the museum's interiors.
